I've always been a big car nerd and always enjoyed the pictures in Nippon magazines where they would do interviews with the bosses of the tuning world. The photos always had this capture of them in mid sentence. Hands up, mouths open to the fact that they were passionately describing their tuning philosophy. For some reason, I've always been drawn to those types of portraits.

Today's photo takes its inspiration from that.

Been quite busy these past few nights taking down the syndicate's establishments. It's been a lot easier than I had originally thought. Their defenses are designed around a direct large scale assault. The syndicate doesn't consider a single man on a motorbike to be of any threat or they'd have a tighter defense.

Reading through the data I acquired, I found out why the Chief was so quick to close down my investigation. Seems like the syndicate is one of the force's largest contributors.

Working my unofficial investigation has lead me all over the world as I continue my search for the leader of the largest crime syndicate this world has known.

Today I find myself in a remote region, armed only with a hackint0sh I continue to gather information needed to bring the syndicate down.

Because of what went down back in HQ I no longer keep them updated on my findings. I'm working this case alone.

Something is bugging me. After my little altercation, I went down to HQ to brief my sergeant as to what was happening then his face turned ghostly white. At that point the Chief of D called him out into the hall where they had a brief conversation. I was then told to stop my investigation immediately and to hand over everything over. I gave everything over but not before I saved a copy to my Dropbox.

Something ain't right.

My informant tipped me off that the leader of the crime syndicate would be heading to one of his new buildings tonight. Figured I'd introduce myself, unfortunately, my informant also tipped him off to my appearance so he decided not to show but instead he sent about 50 of his henchmen with his regards. Now I gotta try to find a way out of this place.

Another crazy day at the house and Mouse Girl has the sniffles. So at the end of the day I needed to do something to unwind and decided for today's photo I'd do more product work as I find that type of shooting pretty relaxing. With some Sergei Rachmaninoff playing via AirTunes I went at it.

Brioche with Orange Marmalade.

I left some brioche out on the counter to stale out and will turn that into French Toast for the girls tomorrow for breakfast.

Day Fourteen

What no selfy today? I figured we've got the whole year for you to look at my ugly mug that I'd throw in some product work into my 365 stream for some variety along the way.

What we're looking at here is a matcha green tea & coconut flavored tea cake produced by a local baker in the area that needed some product work done.

Funny thing about today's shoot: while I was plating the cakes I accidentally took out a piece of it. Good thing I always require stunt doubles so I took part of one and combined it with the other to produce a whole piece. Worked out great because it blended in with the bokeh.

We won't tell the pastry chef, it will be our little sekret.

And yes, I listen to other genre of music besides rap.

If I were to actually join an online dating service, I figured I would need a profile photo. As I started setting up for the photo I thought about what I would put under my likes. It would probably read something like:

Day Seven

Today was walk the show floor day at CES and boy am I exhausted. I got to try out the new Canon EF 70-200mm ƒ/2.8L IS II USM paired up with the 1D Mark IV. The lens is a wonderful improvement over the original version. The 4 stop IS system is amazing as I am handholding at .5 seconds @ 200mm and the viewfinder is just rock solid. Images at this focal length wide open are remarkably sharper than the previous version as well. The camera was also a joy to use and was engineered in such a way as Mark III users can just pick up the camera and go. I could use this camera blindfolded.

So what does that have to do with today's photo? Well, I'm exhausted and getting ready to have dinner so it's a quick photo for today of my bread and butter rig. The 1D Mark III along with the 50mm ƒ/1.2. But here's the kick: this was all taken manual. That's right, manual flash, focus, camera settings. Why? Because the camera I was using is a rangefinder. *Gasp*

Meet one of my best friends, Chris. He flew down today because it's CES2010. He's also the person that got me into photography, thing is he switched camps. He no longer shoots Canon and went over to that one company in Germany. You know that one company that as soon as you slap that red/black dot on it becomes like hella expensive.

Regardless of choice in gear he really is a great photographer and has been a great source of information for me. I'd post his twitter but he wants to stay all low key like. Sheesseezzzeee.

Day Four

Like most, its back to the office today after the holidays. Mail piled up sky high, email box full and that blinking red voicemail light. But I knew I wouldn't be in the office too long because at the end of the week it's CES!

So I figured I'd just start somewhere and work through the day till I was done. Then it dawned on me… Day Four. D'OH!

Went walking around looking for some inspiration and was still coming up empty, so that became my photo today. Me thinking of what kind of photo to make.

If you're wondering what I'm looking at, well Las Vegas has tons of free magazines that advertise a certain kind of service that litter the ground.

Day Two

So I will play the game like it should be played. Drop the funk into the mix so the place will never fade. -It's Funky Enough: D.O.C.

Woke up this morning and thought it was a nightmare but then I quickly realized… yep it's day 2. Checked out the 365 pool and lots of great photos already and here I am drawing a blank.

Fast forward to mid day when I just tucked in the girls for their nap and I'm goofing around lala and what do I find… It's Funky Enough by D.O.C and that's when I decided I would go all gangsta.

Man I remember wanting to get an LA Kings cap for the longest.

Day One

The hell was I thinking joining in with the masses on starting a 365 project. Honestly, am I insane? Then again I do a daily project where I shoot everyday but with that I just shoot when I feel like, if a miss a day, well then I miss a day. Now I'm numbering my shots.

I'm getting the jitters (I have commitment issues). Oh wells, let's see how far I get with this.
